What is the shelf and useful life of an industrial safety helmet?

There is no requirement in EN or ANSI standards for assessment of a safety helmet’s shelf life, but manufacturers are required to give some guidelines on the useful and overall life. The shelf and useful life of safety helmets can therefore vary by manufacturer.

JSP safety helmets have a combined shelf and useful life of 10 years – helmets can be stored for up to 5 years in the appropriate storage conditions and can then be used up to 5 years following, ensuring that the relevant inspection and maintenance is carried out. All JSP helmets carry a date of manufacture under the peak which can be used to determine remaining life.
